Headlines and News

Host Delsea was dominant once again on their home course, finishing first in Division 2 with 52 points. They were led by youth as sophomores George Tenenberg, William Mayhew and Dylan Senatore and freshmen Colin Kane all placed in the top 10. All four runners also posted personal bests for the course, with Tenenberg shaving 30 seconds off of his time from last year’s Open with a 16:17 fourth-place finish.

Delsea was the best example, as it was able to claim the Group 3 team title for the first time since 1997 when it totaled 53 points to finish 24 ahead of second-place Ocean City. George Tenenberg (16:29) and Colin Kane (16:31) led the Crusaders by finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, while the rest of the pack was not far behind.

The Crusaders were finally able to overcome Kingsway and Highland at the Tri-County Conference Showcase in October at Cumberland High, where Delsea took home the team title with its first win over Kingsway since 2010. For its efforts, Delsea is the South Jersey Times boys cross-country Team of the Year for 2016.
